Embracing Transformation: My Experience with the Neptune Square Transit
If you’re around 40–41 years old and feeling a bit (or a lot) lost, confused, or like your world has been flipped upside down, you might just be in the middle of what astrologers call the Neptune square Neptune transit. This is when slow-moving Neptune hits a 90 degree angle compared to where it was when you were born- a key transit where it’s energy is amplified.
What Are The Themes of Neptune?
Neptune Neptune represents dreams, spirituality, and the unseen, inspiring imagination, creativity, and a connection to the divine.
Its energy dissolves boundaries, fostering compassion, empathy, and a sense of oneness, while also challenging us with illusions, confusion, and escapism. It encourages surrender, spiritual growth, and healing, but its shadow can lead to deception and unhealthy detachment from reality.
Neptune ultimately invites us to trust the flow of life, explore the mystical, and align with higher ideals while staying grounded.
Where it sits in your individual chart will affect your relationship with these themes.
How can I check when my Neptune Square is?
If you are 40-42, chances are you are in your Neptune Square or just about to be! You can go to astro.com to add your date of birth and pull up your chart. Check it’s position in the table.
You are having your Neptune Square within the next year if it’s from 27 Sagittarius up to 1 or 2 Capricorn - you can see mine below is 29 Sagittarius. I also recommend The Pattern app where you can check your long term transits- it will tell you based on your DOB. Or if you can’t get your head around it, drop me a DM with your DOB and I’ll do a quick check for you :-)
What Is This Time Really About?
Think of this period as a sort of “life detox.” It’s when old ideas, habits, and ways of thinking that no longer serve you begin to dissolve, making room for something new. That might sound lovely (and it is), but it can also feel like standing in the middle of a foggy crossroads with no clear direction in sight.
During this time, you might find yourself questioning everything—who you are, what you want, and whether the life you’ve built feels meaningful. Maybe new paths and opportunities start popping up, or you just feel a deep longing to escape the daily grind and connect with something bigger, more spiritual, or more inspiring.
It’s not the time to make major decisions. That can feel frustrating… Instead, this is a time to let yourself explore, daydream, and open up to possibilities. It’s about stepping back from the hustle and tuning in to what your heart and soul truly want.
A Time to Let Go
This period has a way of showing you what’s not working in your life. If your life feels aligned with something meaningful—maybe a purpose, a passion, or a service to others—you’ll likely feel supported, and new doors may even start opening for you.
But if you’ve been stuck in a routine that feels empty or inauthentic, that will come into sharp focus. You might feel disillusioned, restless, or uncommitted to the path you’re on. And while that’s not a fun feeling, it’s actually a gift—it’s the universe nudging you to shed what’s not right and create space for something new.
It’s also worth mentioning that practical things like work or daily tasks might feel harder than usual. You may feel disconnected or like the things you used to care about just don’t seem as important anymore. That’s okay. Let yourself lean into this time as an opportunity to rethink your priorities and connect with your higher values.
My Personal Experience
Right now, I’m in the thick of it. My Neptune square transit started in April 2024 and will continue through December 2025, so I know exactly how intense this time can feel. For me, it’s been a time of deep identity work and letting go of old ways of thinking.
I’ve also been working through what’s called my Guidance Cycle (part of the emotional development 7 year cycle), which means there is a lot of energy around my crown chakra at that moment. That means I’ve felt very connected to spiritual ideas but a bit disconnected from my body at times. It’s been essential for me to ground myself, and my yoga and Pilates practice have been a essential during this process.
There have been days when I’ve felt completely untethered—like I’m floating in a cloud of uncertainty—but there’s also been beauty in it. This period has pushed me to reevaluate what truly matters and to trust that even when I don’t have all the answers, I’m being guided toward something better.
What You Can Do During This Time
If you’re experiencing your Neptune Square here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Don’t force it. Trying to “figure it all out” right now will just leave you frustrated. This isn’t a time for control—it’s a time for trust.
2. Stay open. Be curious about the possibilities that are unfolding. Even if nothing feels clear, trust that clarity will come in its own time.
3. Ground yourself. Whether it’s yoga, meditation, journaling, or just spending time in nature, find practices that help you stay connected to your body and the present moment.
4. Let go of the old. This is a powerful time to release habits, relationships, or beliefs that no longer serve you. Letting go can feel scary, but it’s the only way to make space for the new.
5. Lean into the unknown. This isn’t about “fixing” yourself—it’s about embracing the process of transformation.
Trust the Process
The Neptune square transit is challenging, no doubt about it. But it’s also an invitation—a chance to reconnect with your heart, let go of what’s not aligned, and step into the next chapter of your life with more clarity and purpose.
If you’re in the middle of it, like me, know that you’re not alone. It’s okay to feel confused, disoriented, or even a little lost. Those feelings are part of the process. Trust that they’re guiding you toward something more meaningful, more aligned, and more beautiful than you can imagine right now.
And remember, you don’t have to go through it alone. If you need support, I’m here to help guide you through this transformative time. Let’s walk this journey together.
